Introducing. . . .Jasper {Whitlock} Hale
He was born in Texas, later joining the Confederate States Army in 1861 to serve in the Civil War. Jasper ascended through the ranks of the Army quickly, due to his determination and charismatic persona.
In 1863, when he was twenty years-old, Jasper was turned into a vampire later gaining the power of manipulating emotions. He was changed by a vampiress named Maria; who, seeing his high rank in the army, and seeking control of Monterrey, changed him against his will.
Jasper's "job" as a vampire, was to train young vampires and then kill them when they were no longer useful, about one year into the transformation when their burst of strength and power begins to fade. Jasper's knowledge of training young vampires comes in handy when the Cullens and the wolves go up against Victoria and her army of "baby" vampires. After a little more than a century of training young vampires, Jasper seeks out old friends, Peter and his mate Charlotte. But soon leaves them as well, after the unsettling of feeding off humans when he could hear and feel their emotions as he killed them. Alice, a vampiress, foreseeing their meeting, met him in a half-empty diner in Philadelphia, and together they sought out the Cullen family.
Because of his earlier ability to feed on humans when he pleased, Jasper starts out as the weakest of the bunch, or the vampire with the least self-control over his animal instincts. But with Carlisle as his mentor and the rest of the Cullen family behind him, Jasper learns to control his feedings and become much more relaxed around humans.
